Captain America’s costume, motorcycle, two of his shields and a Cosmic Cube are just a few of the items up for grabs for the richest 1% of comic book fans next month, when Profiles in History teams up with Marvel Studios for a Captain America: The First Avenger auction at the Chicago Comic and Entertainment Expo (C2E2).Besides those and other props from Captain America: The First Avenger, the April 14 auction will include items like Iron Man’s Mark II “Autopsy” armor from Iron Man II–that is, the armor that Jim Rhodes absconded with–and the foam-headed stunt hammer from Kenneth Branagh’s Thor. The armor is expected to be the most expensive item of the night, with a reported starting bid of $60,000 according to TMZ (plus, according to a press release from Profiles in History, “special shipping arrangements will apply”), with a complete Captain America costume from the film (pictured at right) next on the list at $20,000. Rounding out the top five starting bids are Cap’s Harley Davidson at $12,000; Thor’s hammer at $4,000 and one of Captain America’s stunt shields at $3,000.The auction house adds, “Also included will be a wide array of Hydra and Allied prop weaponry and equipment, Johann Schmidt/Red Skull costumes, plus several Hydra motorcycles and a full-scale steel-plated Hydra “Fastrac” tank built on a four wheel drive tractor chassis!”, and they promise more announcements to come in the weeks leading up to the auction.C2E2 takes place April 13-15 at Chicago’s McCormick Place.
