Tonight’s episode of Supergirl was filled with plenty of surprising twists and turns.When a rogue alien named Indigo launches a devastating cyberattack on National City, Supergirl and the DEO both try to stop the Coluan without the other’s help.Kara and Jimmy turn to Superman for help, while J’onn and Alex recruit Winn for his computer skills.”Solitude” gave us our first look at Superman’s Fortress of Solitude, and revealed a major Easter egg hinting at a major DC superhero team. So without further ado, here are five of the most shocking moments from “Solitude”.

Indigo Crashes Kara’s Apartment
Indigo made a big first impression by declaring a start to her “age of chaos” and crashing National City’s traffic grid. While Supergirl managed to save at least one family from Indigo’s initial strike on National City, she asked Winn to track the hacker down after Indigo attacked several financial institutions the following morning. While Winn discovered Indigo’s advanced firewall system, he wasn’t expecting Indigo to literally materialize in Kara’s apartment, revealing her true form for the first time. The rogue Coluan quickly got the upper hand on Kara, tossing her out a window before grabbing both Winn and Jimmy by the throat. Luckily, J’onn and Alex arrived to make the save, but Indigo managed to escape back into the Internet unscathed.
A Legion Flight Ring?!
Supergirl tossed a few big Easter eggs out for Superman fans during her brief tour of the Fortress of Solitude. Not only did we see the Fortress’s iconic golden key (the super-heavy dwarf star version, not the giant Golden Age key) and the pod that carried Clark to Earth, we also saw that Clark had a Legion Flight Ring in his possession. Not only does this mean that Superman (or more likely Superboy) was a member of the Legion of Superheroes, this also opens the door for Kara to have her own adventures with the futuristic superhero team. The comics version of Supergirl had plenty of adventures with the Legion of Superheroes and even had a romance with Indigo’s ancestor and longtime Legion member Brainac 5.
It’s unlikely that Supergirl’s producers would drop a major Easter egg like a Legion Flight Ring without some sort of plans for the team, so don’t be surprised if a Legionnaire or two pops up in the future!
Supergirl Stops a Nuke
Supergirl finally crossed “stopping a nuclear bomb” off her superhero bucket list when she stopped an ICBM from hitting National City. After Indigo broke into a secure launch facility, she quickly took out the guards and started the launch sequence before Supergirl arrived to stop her. After a brief fight, Kara flew after the missile and caught up to it as it began its final approach towards her hometown. When Supergirl failed to push the missile off course, she turned to the DEO for help with defusing the bomb. Luckily, J’onn had the disarming codes on hand (how convenient) and Supergirl used her speed and strength to disarm the bomb just a few thousand feet away from impact.
Lucy Dumps Jimmy
It was the break up everyone saw coming…except for Jimmy Olsen. While most of Lucy’s insecurities came from Jimmy’s “special” relationship with Supergirl, she realized that her boyfriend was in love with Kara, the “other” woman in his life. Ironically, Lucy discovered the truth only because Kara had tried to fix Jimmy and Lucy’s relationship. When Kara mentioned a story involving Jimmy’s father (whom he had never told Lucy anything about), Lucy knew that Jimmy’s feelings for Kara ran deeper than friendship. After dumping Jimmy, Lucy told her ex-boyfriend that Kara felt the same way, even if she wouldn’t say anything to him.
Indigo Lives
It’s an old TV adage that it takes a hacker to stop a hacker and that’s exactly what Winn did. Uploading a malware program into Indigo’s software code, Winn stopped the rogue Coluan just as she prepared to choke the life out of the DEO’s top freelance hacker. Although Indigo seemingly disintegrated away into nothingness, Non had other plans. At the end of the episode, Non pulls Indigo’s mangled body out of the ether and asks her if she’s ready to play by “his rules”. Will Indigo play a role in Myriad? We’ll have to find out in a few weeks!
