If you are a fan of anime, then you already know not to talk about movies like Dragon Ball Evolution or The Guyver. Even Kite and Fist of the North Star are touch-and-go with some anime purists, and fans are all but certain Hollywood will never do justice to the medium. Next year, Ghost in the Shell will see its Hollywood adaptation hit theaters, and the film has been subjected to intense scrutiny because of anime’s dark history abroad.

So, it’s not shocking to hear that plenty of fans are wary about Hollywood and its plans to adapt Naruto into a live-action movie. Lionsgate is moving ahead with the project, and creator Masashi Kishimoto has confirmed he is involved with the film. Now, Twitter is taking a stand when it comes to the Naruto endeavor, so you better buckle in for a bumpy ride.

Believe it!

This user’s chain of tweets are as sharp as any ninja’s kunai. Clearly, they are not too impressed by the adaptation and Hollywood’s history of whitewashing.ย

Slide 2

Let’s all just take a moment and envision Justin Beiber donning Naruto’s iconic orange garb. Think about it.ย

Slide 3

Clearly, Robert Pattinson is a contender to play Sasuke Uchiha. The actor does have experience playing broody, super-strong leads after all.ย

So many questions. So, so many questions. See? This is why we don’t mess with the timelines, Barry!

While a gender-bent version of Orochimaru is not wholly unwelcome, the slithery character may be a bit too dark for these starlets. But, hey – there are fans who can get behind Ben Affleck!

Poor Tilda Swinton. Ever since her Doctor Strange casting, she has become a lightning rod of whitewashing jokes.ย

Slide 7

We don’t speak of the latter film. Don’t even say its name.ย

Slide 8

Again, gender-bending is not a totally uncalled for decision, but let’s just think about this proposition for a second.ย

Slide 9

Sold. Clearly, Dwayne Johnson was born to wear Rock Lee and his green bodysuit.ย

Slide 10

Given the success of Naruto‘s live-action play in Japan it would make sense of Lionsgate to at least consider being canonical when it comes to appearances.ย

Thankfully, this image will likely never come to life if not only because Tom Holland is way too busy playing Spider-Man these days.ย

For some, this image will be a masterpiece. And, for the rest, they may never get the picture scrubbed from their thoughts.ย
