During a press run for Jack the Giant Slayer, filmmaker Bryan Singer–who directed X-Men, X-Men 2 and is currently prepping X-Men: Days of Future Past for production, told reporters that he isn’t sure whether Halle Berry will reprise her role as Storm in the forthcoming sequel–but that every character in the movie will have an important part to play.Singer seemed to suggest that he’s not sure whether Storm will be in the movie at all yet, telling MTV that it’s not about Berry, or even about coming to a deal with the big name actress, that stands in the way of the move happening.”I can’t say. I don’t know yet. And it’s not necessarily a deal making aspect at all. I want to make sure it’ll make sense,” the director said. And that was a recurring theme–the idea that a character’s role in the film has to make sense and isn’t there just to change.”I don’t want to say who the protagonists are yet, or talk about that yet, but I will say that every character has a very important function in the story,” said Singer. “The story is designed and catered to the combined cast. It’s not just throwing in people to occupy the screen, occupy the billboards.”X-Men: Days of Future Past is rumored to be going into production soon with an eye toward a July 17, 2014 release.
