7 Avengers Copycats Ranked by How Dangerous They Would Be to The Originals

The Avengers, are one of the premier teams of the Marvel universe, along with amazing villains. Over the years, many of their villains have tried to copy their looks to varying levels of success. Whether it was framing them for crimes they didn’t commit, or posing as a group of heroes, they’ve done it all. It’s a tale as old as time for Marvel and isn’t going anywhere. With series like the Thunderbolts and Dark Avengers, it’s incredibly common. More often than not, some of these copycats are downright dangerous. Genuine menaces to society that are walking omens of terror to come.

Whether it’s an individual posing as a hero or a team, the damage is done. We wanted to know which characters would be the most dangerous, and we’ve found them. Every threat here is a major one, and one you don’t want to save yourself.

7) Secret Invasion

Secret Invasion is a heavily criticized comic event about the Skrulls infiltrating the world. Posing around as various heroes, a large group of Skrulls posed as the Avengers. Most of the popular heroes were revealed to have been taken over as Skrulls. While they failed their infiltration, this was a large-scale copycat situation. The Skrulls would be stopped, but they were terrible replacements at the time. While the TV miniseries soured many fans, this was a good event. With a deep enough mystery based on trust, this was an all-out, suspense-filled invasion.

6) The Masters of Evil as The Thunderbolts

When the Avengers were presumed dead, The Masters of Evil became the Thunderbolts. A new group of heroes that were secretly villains. Not copying specific Avengers, but they did pose as a new hero team as a whole. They wanted to be heroes when the Earth needed them, and they sufficed. While they’d be revealed late,r they did just as much harm as good.

Some characters preferred being good while others didn’t. Under the lead of Baron Zemo, the Thunderbolts would become a Suicide Squad-style team. Neither hero nor villain, their legacy hasn’t gone back to the idea of straight-up villains as heroes. Nothing will beat the reveal of the original issue that they were the Masters of Evil.

5) Moonstone as Captain Marvel

One of the classic Thunderbolts members, Moonstone, posed as Ms. Marvel/Captain Marvel plenty of times. Notably, during the Dark Avengers series, she posed as Ms. Marvel during this era. Moonstone filled the same power role but fought plenty of enemies severely. She was overconfident, and that would lead to her ending her role on the team. She’d leave after Norman Osborn was defeated and left the role right after. A short-lived “hero” but she was often regarded as super well as a threat.

4) Daken as Wolverine

Daken is the son of Wolverine and has posed as him on multiple occasions. Another member of the same Dark Avengers team as Moonstone, Daken was another lethal threat. Taking his father’s brown and tan suit for himself, he helped distinguish himself from Logan. Wolverine alone is always a strong force, but the evil son adds more to the fear.

He was a spot-on replication of Wolverine, but would not be someone to get help from. He’d kill anyone he’s helped just got get his father’s attention. He’s not nearly as strong as Logan, with a bone skeleton, but that doesn’t mean he’s weak. If he did have the full adamantium, he’d be a bigger threat.

3) Venom as Spider-Man

Yet another Dark Avengers recruit, Mac Gargan, as Venom, became Spider-Man. After he bonded with the symbiote, he would act like Spider-Man but strike more fear into his enemies. With many villains understanding what the black suit means as an omen, Gargan had a field day with the suit.

While he was more unstable with the symbiote, he was another powerhouse on the team. An easy way for Norman to have his own Spider-Man, Venom as a public hero for the team. As Spider-Man is just as popular in the universe, he was an easy one to trust. Although J. Jonah Jameson surely had a field day with this Spider-Man.

2) Bullseye as Hawkeye

The biggest threat of the Dark Avengers had to be Bullseye pretending to be Hawkeye. The best assassin in the Marvel universe is posing as an archer. With many deaths under his belt, he was the living weapon of the Dark Avengers. Bullseye’s a threat as is, but pretending to be good was one of his most evil moves. Which says a lot given everything he’s done.

Thankfully, it didn’t last long, but it did major damage. Just one of many times he’s posed as a hero. Daredevil and Hawkeye can bond over this shared issue. Thankfully, it didn’t last long and was left behind. Until he inevitably does it again, that is.

1) Doctor Doom as Iron Man

The most dangerous villain ever was as a “hero” had to be Dr. Doom as the Infamous Iron Man. He did some good for a while, but it wouldn’t last. This was literally on the heels of Secret Wars (2015), where he was the main antagonist. There was no way this would last, and it didn’t. He was a hero, but he can never stay on the path of good. His name is Doom, and that is what he is.

It was a decent series for what it was, but the fans wanted Doom to be Doom. That’s what he does best, but not without his good days. He cares about his people, and that’s where he should stay. Doom has done so much damage and continues to do so, and he always will.
