The Expanse, based on the well-loved sci-fi novels by James S.A. Corey, brought audiences something that they were desperately cravingโtrue science-focused sci-fi centered around nuanced characters and set against a beautiful and technologically advanced backdrop. The show seemed to have it all, from high production value to vibrant political and personal storylines that were ripe for sinking your teeth into. Then it was canceled after 6 seasons, and not for the first time. The original network to air the show, Sy Fy, had cancelled The Expanse after its third season before streaming giant Amazon picked it up to build on and continue the storyline for another 3 seasons. Amazon then cancelled the show before the final 3 novels were adaptedโand fans were not happy.

But now it seems like there might be some light at the end of the tunnel for fans of the show. BOOM! Studios is returning to the world of The Expanse with their new comic titled The Expanse: A Little Death, a graphic novel continuation of the showโs main story with Amos Burton at the center.
The Expanse Fans Finally Have Something New to Replace Season 7

So what can we expect? We now know that the graphic novel will start two years after the final episode of season 6, roughly in the year 2358, and features a new world called Auberonโa new, successful colony of the Ring Network. Writers of the comic, Wes Chatham and Andy Diggle, say that A Little Death is very much a story of violent revenge, with Amos Burton at the center of it as he initially ventures out in search of brothels and booze (just a few of his favorite things). His search doesnโt last long though, as Burton stumbles into old acquaintances and former friends from his old stomping grounds in Baltimore.
This new criminal underground featured in A Little Death will prove to be just as gritty and dark as any seen in the original novels.
Will The Graphic Novel Meet Our Big Expectations?
After years off air, leaving fans desperate for more of this incredible story, itโs no wonder that there is some skepticism around the release of this particular comic. However, The Expanse: A Little Death was written under the watchful eyes of the creators of the show and is covering a time period that was skipped over in the original novels, leaving it open to new stories and fresh perspectives while allowing audiences to follow a character that has become beloved. What more could you want (a continuation of the original show notwithstanding)?
