In a room filled with concept art on the set of Warner Brothers and DC Films' Justice League production was the confirmation of Willem Dafoe's role in the heroic ensemble film.

Dafoe will be going on a deep dive with his new character as he will be suiting up as one of Aquaman's biggest supporting characters: Vulko.

Created by Bob Haney and Howard Purcell, Vulko is an Atlantean politician and a mentor to Aquaman. He offers level and sound advice in time of crisis and lives as the city's oldest dignitary. Prior to Aquaman's rule, Nuidis Vulko was around for his birth. He argued against the curse of Kordax and refused to abandon Aquaman, however, this may not be an issue for Momoa's portrayal as Arthur Curry's hair won't be blonde. How large of a role Dafoe's Vulko will play Justice League is unknown so far but he will have a full-on royal Atlantean costume when he appears in the film and will likely go on to appear in the standalone Aquaman film in 2018.

Dafoe previously starred in one of the biggest comic book movie franchises in history when he played Norman Osborn and the Green Goblin in the original Tobey Maguire Spider-Man franchise. His other best known roles include the voice of Finding Nemo's Gill, 1986's Platoon, and more recently Jopling in The Grand Budapest Hotel. He joins a studded cast alongside Momoa with Henry Cavill, Ben Affleck, Gal Gadot, Ezra Miller, Ray Fisher, Amber Heard, and J.K. Simmons, being directed by Zack Snyder.

Justice League is set for release on November 17, 2017.
