Spoilers incoming for Batman #13, so if you have not read the issue yet you’ve been warned.
Bane has seemingly gained the upper hand over the course of the previous three issues. Catwoman has turned to his side and he’s taken out most of Batman’s team, not to mention the ace in the hole he has in the Psycho Pirate. The thing is, this is Batman you’re talking about, so not everything is as it seems.
Thanks to some smart planning from Batman, the deck quickly stacks against Bane. If you haven’t seen Bane recently, he’s sporting a…more natural look these days. He’s overcome the urges of the Venom he used to rely on, and at one point even lords that over a beaten Batman to show how superior he is to the dark knight.
Catwoman manages to kick Bane square in the back, pinning him down to the floor. This comes after Batman says all he wants to do is break Bane’s back, referring of course to the infamous Knightfall storyline where Bane took out Bruce’s back. The team leaves with Psycho Pirate in their possession, and as Bane’s soldiers flock to him, Venom mutters a word. When they ask him what he wants, he screams “VENOM!”
It looks like the villain is going back to his old ways, and Batman will surely be his first stop.
