Get Your First Look At Nightwing: The New Order’s Powerless Superman

Ever since the tease in issue #1, fans have been eager to see what a powerless Superman looks like in Nightwing: The New Order. Now fans have their chance.

Kyle Higgins and Trevor McCarthy are currently taking fans through a DC Universe led by a Nightwing that turned on his superpowered friends for a mysterious reason. That mystery has yet to unfold, though it didn’t seem to be for less than altruistic intentions.

Still, the de-powered heroes aren’t taking this lying down, including the Superman you see below. A few things pop out at you initially, the first of which is that full beard and long hair he’s wearing. He still looks as if he’s kept in shape, though now he wears a Superman-themed suit of armor.

Most notably though are his weapons, which are very clearly Wonder Woman’s sword and shield. He doesn’t have heat vision and super strength to rely on anymore, so having them makes sense. How he has them is the bigger question though.

Did she give them to him? It would make sense actually. Diana has substantial powers, but she is also expertly trained in the art of combat from the Amazons, so she very well could’ve given Superman the weapons as she doesn’t truly need them.

The other possibility is that she isn’t around anymore, with Superman carrying them in honor of her. Since this is the cover to issue #5, fans probably won’t find that out anytime soon, but it does make you think doesn’t it?
