5 Comics You Should Read This Week

It can be a bit intimidating at the comic book store these days, with swaths of new books flooding the new release rack every Wednesday. The good news is you don’t have to go it alone, and while there are plenty of things to keep your attention this week, here are the essentials you’ll want to hit.

By no means is this an “only” list, as there are a bounty of great books coming out on Wednesday. This is more of a “list of what not to miss”, books you might want to set aside some time and wallet allotment for. This week’s list has books from DC, Marvel, and Oni Press, but there are plenty of great Dark Horse, BOOM! Studios, and Valiant to enjoy this week as well.

Before you see the week’s top books though, make sure to check out a few other notable books before you leave, especially if you have some cash to burn.

The Damned

A supernatural tale with a lead who dies constantly set in the Prohibition era is certainly a potent combination, so this is a great chance to hop onboard with a new ongoing series.

The Damned is written by Cullen Bunn with art by Brian Hurtt.

In a Prohibition-era world where demonic princes pull the strings that make crime families dance, Eddie is a mortal with two things working for him. First of all, he can’t die. Well, he can and does, quite often, but he doesn’t stay down for long. Second, Eddie runs the Gehenna Room, a nightclub with a strict “no demons allowed” policy.
