Over the months, Armie Hammer has amassed himself an army of fans who want to see him join the DC Extended Universe. The leading man put out an unintentional call to arms when he trolled fans about possibly being cast as the Green Lantern. Netizens took the note and ran with it, fan-casting the actor into all their DCEU dreams. However, when it comes to real life, Hammer says he has no connection with the superhero films. In fact, Warner Bros. has never even contacted him about any of its DCEU roles.

Speaking with ScreenRant, Hammer took time to talk about his involvement with Cars 3. It was there the actor addressed his troll-ish hints about starring in either Green Lantern Corps or even a Shazam! standalone.
“The funny thing is, is nobody has ever come to me an been likeโฆ My agent has never called and said, “Armie, Warner Bros, has been talking to me. There’s really interested in you. This whole thing.” Never,” Hammer stressed.
“In fact, afterโฆ there was like aโฆ When the Green Lantern stuff first kind of started, which I think is Geoff Johns fault, because he like followed me on Twitter or something, and everybody was like what does that mean?! So uhโฆ how did it happen, Um, I called my agent, after it had been going on for like a week or two, it had been going on for a little bit, I called my agent, I was like, “Man, have you heard anything from like D.C. or anything?” And he was like, “No”. I was like, “nothing?” He was like, “No”. I was like, “Not one thing?”, and he was like, “No. Why?” I was like, “nothing aboutโฆ Green Lantern?”, and he was like, “No, nothing”, and I was like, alright. That’s it, that’s the end of it.”
This is not the first time that Hammer has said his superhero dreams have only been realized on social media. Earlier this year, the actor told the same thing to Collider in a brief interview.
“Man, jeezโฆ It was fun for a while and now I’m convinced that everyone’s gonna turn on me so I’m like ‘Oh shit, slowly backing away,’” Hammer explained. “I have nothing to confirm nor deny. The only talk of me being Green Lantern that I have heard in my life has only come from social media.”
Still, there is little question that DC Entertainment has heard about the actor’s social media stunt. Fervor surrounding Hammer’s possible work as Hal Jordan continues to create a frenzy on social media, and Warner Bros. would be amiss to overlook any good will they may get from the casting one day. The studio’s last go at Green Lantern still sours DC diehards to this day, but Hammer has the skill set to turn the hero’s reputation around.
Now, all Warner Bros. needs to do is make the call.
