Arrow hasn’t even taken its sixth season out for a spin, but its producers are already mapping out a seventh. According to showrunner Marc Guggenheim, The CW drama is plotting out story lines which will take it well into 2018.

Slash Film was front-and-center to hear Guggenheim talk about Arrow at the TCA (Television Critics Association) event in Beverly Hills this week. During the panel, the producer opened up about how Arrow plans to move forward, and Guggenheim didn’t shy away from the topic of seventh season.
“We’ve already started talking about ooh, we have a shape for season seven already. This is the earliest we’ve ever had an idea for a season that far ahead, but it’s come out of our conversations about season six,” Guggenheim revealed.
Fans will be reassured to hear about Arrow‘s long-term strategy; After all, the show has been slammed in the past for its disjointed story arcs. The show’s sixth season promises to have fewer ‘wild goose chases’ than its fifth, but it will also introduce events which will shape season seven. As for whether there will be an eighth season, Arrow fans will have to wait and see. The show does have a loyal fanbase supporting it from behind, but Guggenheim stressed his team had had an endgame in mind for Arrow for awhile.
“I think we’ve always had an endpoint in mind. We’ve always known how we want to end the show,” the showrunner said. “That endpoint doesn’t require X number of seasons. If we had to, we could work towards it as long as we knew with enough leeway, we could work towards the moment we’ve been talking about since day one.”

Supergirl premieres on Monday, October 9th at 8 pm, while The Flash debuts on Tuesday, October 10 at 8 pm. Legends of Tomorrow moves to Tuesdays this Fall, airing right after The Flash on October 10. On Thursday, October 12 at 9 pm Arrow will premiere to round out the DC roster.
