Amell, who is friends with former ANW champ Kacy Catanzaro, long ago expressed interest in appearing on the FOX game show, although for a while it seemed as though they weren’t interested.

Then, rumors started to circulate that Amell would be on the series. After that — nothing.

During a recent appearance at a Heroes & Villains Fan Fest convention panel, Amell was quizzed about the likelihood of his going on the obstacle course show (with a concession that, yes, we’re all aware that the salmon ladder portion is pretty much a gimme for him at this point).

His answer seemed to be — he’ll do it when and if he decides he wants to.

“They’ve reached out to me to do American Ninja Warrior,” Amell revealed. “We’ll see. One of the things that I’m learning now as someone that has a big responsibility at the head of a television show and has some business interests and is a husband and a father — priorities not being in that order — I don’t want to stretch myself too thin, and I wouldn’t want to do something if I couldn’t put my heart and soul into it.”

Besides crossing over with the non-Arrow DC shows on The CW, Amell has also been pretty busy superheroing in a different franchise recently: during his Arrow hiatus last year, he played Casey Jones in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows. Combine that with his seemingly full-time charity work, the winery he owns…one can start to see a pattern emerging. Amell doesn’t have a lot of downtime.

So while American Ninja Warrior certainly interests him, apparently fans will have to wait a while to see if the marriage ever really comes together.
