Kong Skull Island Director Wants A Classic Batman Suit In DC Movies

We all have our favorite versions of DC superhero costumes – and there is no hero more debated than Batman. Whether it’s on the comic book page or the screen, in live-action or animated form, Batman’s costume is an iconic symbol that always captures pop-culture attention.

Right now, the DC Extended Universe is one of the biggest pop-culture fixations of the moment, and the look of Ben Affleck’s Batman is something that always makes headlines. Well, everyone gets to have an opinion (for what it’s worth) about how Batman should look onscreen, and Kong: Skull Island director Jordan Vogt-Roberts picked a particularly funny moment to share his selection on social media.

As you can see below, Vogt-Roberts just had some kind of surgery and was given painkilers for his injuries – which is when he decided to shared his thoughts on how Batman has or has not been depicted in the movies:

Though it may have had a botched delivery, the sentiment Vogt-Roberts expresses is certainly one that a fair number of Batman fans have shared. The blue/gray costume was the costume for a long time, until the late ’80s when influences on both the page and screen leaned Batman‘s look toward the darker end of the spectrum.

So will there ever be a time when we see the blue/gray costume onscreen? Flashbacks to earlier days in Ben Affleck’s Batman career, or The Dark Knight trying to look a little more heroic after the events of Justice League, both seem like great possibilities for that costume to be introduced. We’ll see what happens.

K. Simmons, and Ciarán Hinds.
