Those boots have since been filled by the comic book’s Golden Age Canary, Dinah Drake, played by Juliana Harkavy. It’s kind of a backwards way of portraying the source material, but it’s not like anyone really cares about that.โจ
What people do care about is Harkavy’s portrayal of a badass Star City detective putting on a domino mask and messing up some criminals after business hours alongside the rest of Team Arrow.
Harkavy’s portrayal of the Black Canary II has been a highlight of the current season, honoring the legacy of the hero that came before her. And now that Arrow has been picked up for a sixth season by the CW, people are wondering if Harkavy will return to the show next year.

While speaking on EW’s Superhero Insider podcast, she didn’t exactly answer outright but Harkavy did remain hopeful.
“I have not [found out], again it’s a lot of speculating and a lot of ideas floating around, but I’m waiting to find out with the rest of you guys,” Harkavy said. “SoโฆI hope to be though because this is truly the most fun, one of the most gratifying experiences that I have had just as an actor and as a human being. It’s been a life-changing kind of [experience], so I hope that it’s going to continue.”
Let’s hope that the Canary legacy continues on for at least another season of Arrow, so long as they don’t kill the character off in an attempt to inspire her teammates to be even more brooding and depressed and vengeful.
The next episode, “Disbanded,” airs March 22.
