Exclusive DC Preview: Green Lanterns #1

DC has provided ComicBook.com with an exclusive preview of next week’s Green Lanterns #1 from writer Sam Humphries and artist Robson Rocha.

The story centers on the budding partnership between Simon Baz and Jessica Cruz, Earth’s two newest Green Lanterns. Meanwhile, Atrocitus and his Red Lanterns are in the background, being evil.

Humphries, of course, makes his way to DC for the first time, having written largely for Marvel in the last few years. He’ll take on what DC hopes is a rejuvenation of the Green Lantern franchise — one that’s been struggling to re-establish itself since Geoff Johns left the title in 2013. Johns helped to craft the direction of Rebirth, and of Green Lanterns in particular, co-writing this month’s Green Lanterns: Rebirth #1 with Humphries, and drafting Green Lantern: Rebirth artist Ethan Van Sciver to the project as well.

“I am psyched for Green Lanterns!” said Humphries. “Myself, Simon, and Jessica are all new to the DC Universe. We’re gonna have a blast exploring it—if we don’t destroy it first.”
