Throughout the week, a slew of rumors hit the Internet regarding the future plans from Warner Bros. regarding DC film projects. The most groundshaking bits were a standalone Joker film which would recast the villain and tell his origin story in an isolated universe which prompted an old interview with The Batman director Matt Reeves to resurface, garnering speculation that his film would exist in the same isolated type of world, unrelated to the DC Extended Universe.
Reeves quickly debunked the rumors which had taken the Internet by storm, prompting Johns’ tweet below.
Misinformation on the internet?! Impossible!!!

Johns was seconding a tweet from Guardians of the Galaxy director James Gunn, defending some “misinformation” about his involvement in a Starsky & Hutch film. “Misinformation on the internet?! Impossible!!!” Johns wrote. “Also, I loved GotG Vol 2.”
Afterwards, the two took a moment to appreciate each other’s cinematic efforts.
“And I am so happy with the choices you’re making over there as well,” Gunn wrote. “Excited for you! Now is the part where we punch other?”
“Those are fighting words!!” Johns responded.
It’s the closest thing to a Marvel and DC crossover we’ll ever see!
After Reeves’ clarified his comments regarding The Batman, Gunn chimed in there as well, sending a tweet which said, “I understood it, @mattreevesLA! Had the same misunderstanding many times…”
