This week has seen a whirlwind of Joker news and it doesn’t sound like it’s stopping any time soon. After the announcement of a Joker and Harley Quinn movie in addition to Suicide Squad 2, rumors floated that David Ayer‘s plans for a Gotham City Sirens movie were scrapped.

But fans of Catwoman, Poison Ivy, and Harley need not worry because a new report suggests that film is still in development.

Mark Hughes of Forbes wrote Warner Bros. is still working on the movie with comment from an insider saying, “Harley, Catwoman and Poison Ivy are super important to us– And a super cool team, too!”

Reports of Gotham City Sirens ‘ early demise have been greatly exaggerated. The rumor was initially put forth by the Tracking Board, saying that the Harley Quinn and Joker movie would be taking its place.

These movies come in the wake of the announcement that Warner Bros. was also looking to develop an origin movie based on the Joker, not starring Jared Leto, to be released under a new Elseworlds-style production banner separate from the DC Cinematic Universe.

That makes four movies starring the Joker in total, with three of them featuring Jared Leto’s version of the character in varying capacities: Suicide Squad 2, Gotham City Sirens, and the Joker/Harley Quinn movie, not including Matt Reeves’ The Batman.

Gotham City Sirens is supposed to feature Harley Quinn forming a team with other supervillains from Gotham City including Catwoman and Poison Ivy.

David Ayer has yet to comment on the rumors surrounding Gotham City Sirens, but he did lend support to Jared Leto and their working relationship on the set of the first Suicide Squad.

Warner Bros. could be developing all of these Joker movies simultaneously with the intention of only making one or two based on how well they come together. Given their troubled track record with developing and producing DC Comics-Based movies in recent years, this would make the most sense.

But then again they could end up making all of these movies and give Hot Topic stores enough merchandise to stock shelves for the next century.

The untitled Joker and Harley Quinn film is set to be written and directed by John Requa and Glenn Ficarra and would star Jared Leto and Margot Robbie.
