Graham McTavish announced his involvement in the Aquaman movie yesterday on Twitter. The actor stated that his role must remain a secret for now.

“Delighted to be able to announce my involvement in Aquaman,” McTavish tweeted. “Character has to be secret….for now. It’s going to be awesome!”

McTavish is likely best known to comic book fans as the Saint of Killers on AMC’s adaptation of Preacher. The Scottish actor also played the dwarf Dwalin in The Hobbit movie trilogy and Dougal MacKenzie in Starz’ Outlander. His voice will be recognizable as that of Loki in Avengers: Earth’s Mightiest Heroes, Dracula in Castlevania on Netflix, and Fergus McDuck on the new DuckTales series.

McTavish joins a cast that already includes star Jason Momoa as Aquaman, Amber Heard as Aquaman’s love Mera, Patrick Wilson as Aquaman’s rival Ocean Master, Willem Dafoe as Vulko, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II as Aquaman’s archenemy Black Manta, Dolph Lundgren as King Nereus, and Nicole Kidman as Atlanna, Aquaman’s mother.

Aquaman stars Jason Momoa as Arthur Curry, the half-human heir to the throne of the underwater kingdom of Atlantis. Momoa debuted in the role with a brief appearance in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, but will bring Aquaman out more fully in the Justice League movie this November.

Aquaman has been filming in Australia since May 2017, with James Wan at the helm. The shoot is expected to wrap in late October.
