After the runaway success of Wonder Woman, there is a lot of buzz circling around the DC Extended Universe – and for a change, it’s pretty positive buzz! As fans prepare to see a new round of DC Superheroes and DC Supervillains join the DCEU, one of the most anticipated upcoming films is Green Lantern Corps, the Green Lantern reboot within the DCEU.

On the other end of the spectrum, one of the more obscure and unknown films coming out of the DCEU is Shazam, which already has a star attached in the form of Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson, but little else.

Got in the middle of both films (and all the rumors surrounding them) is Armie Hammer, the former star of Man From U.N.C.L.E. and The Social Network, who has long been rumored to be joining the DCEU. Since Hammer has been a major fan pick for the roles of both Hal Jordan/Green Lantern and Shazam, the actor himself is now speaking up and revealing which role he‘d rather play.

Speaking to Screen Rant, Hammer addressed the question of what was the better role, Green Lantern or Shazam, stating, “Oh, man! I don’t know. Well, I don’t really know anything about Shazam, to be honest. Like, uh, what’s the deal with Shazam?”

When it was explained to him who Shazam is (i.e. a magical Superman-type hero, whose alter-ego is a little boy named Billy Batson), he had the following response: “So he’s still a little kid? Does he throw temper tantrums?…Really? That’s funny, uh, yeah. That’s interesting.”

While a lot of fans may think that the cocksure Hal Jordan is a perfect fit for Hammer, we personally think the more interesting pick for the actor would be Shazam. Hammer has the unique combination that would make the character work onscreen: He’s got the body and stature of an athlete (or superhero), yet has the boyish quality and goofiness that would convince viewers that they were watching a child in a superman’s body.

Shazam is slated to be released on April 5, 2019. Green Lantern Corps is slated to be in theaters on July 24, 2020.
