On Saturday evening, just ahead of the E3 week that this year is kicking off on Sunday, the gaming event of the weekend is ESL’s Mortal Kombat X Pro League Season 3 Finals. The Electronic Sports League will take over SirReel Studios in Burbank, California, just a few miles North of the convention center that E3 will reside in all day Saturday with some sure-to-be-intense fighting game action.

While the tournament begins at 9am, the final rounds, the “Fatal 8” kick off at 5pm PDT, and that’s when fans will get a special treat. NetherRealm’s next game, Injustice 2, will premiere the first ever gameplay at the tournament, just ahead of the Fatal 8 rounds. You’ll be able to watch the gameplay live on twitch.tv/netherrealm and get a look at Injustice 2 before press and industry members check it out in detail at E3 later in the week. You can watch the tournament live there, as well.
WBIE and NetherRealm are promising a “massive roster of DC Super Heroes and Super-Villains” in Injustice 2, the sequel to the huge hit DC Comics fighting game Injustice: Gods Among Us. They’ve also teased, through the initial cinematic trailer and through releases, that the game will have a power-up component to it in the form of some sort of armor building.
Injustice 2 hits PS4 and Xbox One in 2017, and we’ll have more information on it come E3 on Tuesday, but you can check out gameplay yourself on Saturday. If you’re in the SoCal area and want to attend the ESL MKX Finals, tickets are available now.
