Not long ago, Twitter was sent into a frenzy when Gad took to the site to share a rather strange image. Gad posted a photo of a very famous Batman villain, the Penguin – and there was no caption to indicate why. Fans went in to sleuth more into Gad’s background with DC Entertainment, and netizens found that executives from the studio have been flocking to Gad’s profile. Honchos like John Berg and Geoff Johns have followed Gad over the last few months. And, now, fans are just dying to know whether Gad is nearing a deal to play the Penguin in the DCEU.

Right now, there is no telling, what project Gad could be in talks to debut the Penguin in if any are actually happening. The three main features which have room for the Penguin are Gotham City Sirens, The Batman, and the upcoming animated feature Batman and Harley Quinn.

Where Could The Penguin Be Introduced?

Some fans have pointed out that Gad is a bit young to play Penguin, but it would not be the first time the DCEU has cast younger. Plenty of fans felt similarly when Jared Leto was cast as the Joker for Suicide Squad. If Gad were to bring the Penguin to life in live-action, it is not impossible to think it could be for Gotham City Sirens.

Not only does the film have close connections to Suicide Squad given its Harley Quinn crossover, but David Ayer is overseeing the film as director to boot. The spinoff will see the vixen team up with other DC icons like Poison Ivy and Catwoman. The trio could be pitted against the Penguin in the film, and Gad definitely has the charisma to pull off such a role.

On the other hand, Gad could be eyeing The Batman. However, fans are far less likely to put the actor on-board with the film just yet. Previous reports have stressed that Matt Reeves’ film is still undergoing plenty of pre-production tweaking. Other sources have said casting for The Batman will not commence further until its new script it hammered out, so Gad’s involvement with The Batman is more suspect than any other DC Entertainment project.

As for Gad’s third option, fans would not be surprised if the actor brought the Penguin to life in the DC Animated Universe. The franchise will be adding Batman and Harley Quinn to its line-up later this year. The film will feature an original story by Bruce Timm, The animator has worked on projects involving the Penguin in the past, so it isn’t too difficult to believe Gad could be voicing the character. After all, the actor does have a vetted resume in voice acting.
