A new fan video from Youtuber Darth Blender – who also provided us with the fantastic Thor Ragnarok/Shrek mashup – answers the question “What if Justice League was made in the late 80s?” The video creates a near shot-by-shot remake of the SDCC trailer, using a mixture of past live-action DC portrayals, as well as some other cult classics. You can check it out below.
It’s hard to deny that the fictional cast, which includes Michael Keaton‘s Batman, John Wesley Shipp‘s The Flash, and Lucy Lawless‘ Xena subbing in for Wonder Woman, is a pretty great combination. (Granted, there is the issue of Cyborg essentially being whitewashed for Robocop‘s Peter Weller, but that doesn’t distract too much from the video itself.)
This fan video translates some of the Justice League trailer’s most memorable moments pretty perfectly, from The Flash’s interaction with Jim Gordon, to Alfred addressing a certain mystery character. While many are surely glad that Justice League is being made with today’s technology, it does provide an awesome look at what could have been.
Justice League currently has a 4.19 out of 5 ComicBook.com User Anticipation rating making it the third most anticipated upcoming comic book movie among ComicBook.com readers. In Justice League, fueled by his restored faith in humanity and inspired by Superman’s (Henry Cavill) selfless act, Bruce Wayne (Ben Affleck) enlists newfound ally Diana Prince to face an even greater threat. Together, Batman and Wonder Woman work quickly to recruit a team to stand against this newly awakened enemy. Despite the formation of an unprecedented league of heroes — Batman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Cyborg and the Flash — it may be too late to save the planet from an assault of catastrophic proportions.
