When it comes to superhero casting news, fans are particularly brutal. The actors chosen generally have lofty expectations to meet as countless fans debate their merits and faults when it comes to playing their favorite heroes.

Brenton Thwaites might be subject to even more scrutiny than usual after being announced as Dick Grayson in the Titans live-action series, a character with many notable physical assets.

But after the announcement was made, many fans of Nightwing wondered whether they could get behind actor. After all, Nightwing is known for having a great butt. And as Google data shows, fans wanted to know if Thwaites would be able to back up one of the role’s most important features.

As you can see, people didn’t particularly care about Thwaites’ backside until the casting announcement was made. But as soon as it happened, it became a searched topic among Nightwing fans.

After all, comic book adaptations should be true to the character. Fans were upset when Michael B. Jordan was cast as Johnny Storm, or when Heath Ledger was cast as Joker. Some fans were even upset when Anna Diop was announced to be playing Starfire in the same show โ€” after all, she doesn’t have orange skin and green eyes!

It makes sense that those same fans would wonder whether Thwaites would have the ass to back up his casting as Nightwing.

Comic book-based TV shows and movies are taking more and more liberties when it comes to staying true to the source material. But for every movie that plays it loose like Logan, there’s something like Fant4stic to remind fans that it doesn’t always work out.

Thwaites might be able to handle the pressure, though, having recently gotten his biggest break as Henry Turner in Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales.

Unfortunately that film didn’t particularly feature Thwaites’ ass as Nightwing fans would have liked. Hopefully we’ll learn more about his ability to accurately portray Nightwing in the future.
