She first caught our eye in Batman #181 and has been a member of Batman’s Rougues Gallery ever since, although she sometimes works with him as long as it serves her as well.

Ivy is known for getting men to do her bidding, since it was a man who turned her into poison in the first place.

In the Silver Age of comics, Pamela Lilian Isley was a talented and of course, attractive, botanist – one of the top scientists in her field. However, a man talked her into stealing an ancient artifact that had an herb inside.

He eventually poisoned her with the ancient herb and well, she turned toxic and poisonous to the touch.

She put on that scantily clad green outfit made of plants and turned to a life of protecting all plants, but also using them in a life of crime.

Once she moved to Gotham City, it was all over from there. She often seduced men into doing her bidding and if they didn’t listen she planted the poison kiss on themwhich killed them.

When you think Poison Ivy, don’t go back to Uma Thurman’s first on-screen adaptation – read the comics first!

Ivy existed way before Gotham City Sirens, and we’re going to take a look at what comics to read to get to know Poison Ivy….
