Rainn Wilson is currently working in the Star Trek universe, but that doesn’t mean he couldn’t make a trip to the DCEU.

Wilson plays Harry Mudd on Star Trek: Discovery, who isn’t exactly altruistic in his methods or goals. He’s not a true villain though either, but he did reveal there is a Superman villain he admires.
“I still think DC has not quite figured out Superman. That’s too bad. I didn’t love the last Superman as much of as other people did, but I think Henry Cavill is pretty great,” Wilson told ComicBook.com. “I haven’t quite figured that out. It doesn’t have the kind of humor and … It’s not the Dark Knight. Superman is not that. It’s got to be something fun with bright colors and outlandish characters.”
Man of Steel kicked off the modern DC Cinematic Universe, but humor was at times in short supply, though it did focus more on inspiring than being funny. The villains so far in Superman’s world have been either militaristic or eccentric, but Wilson could see another option.
“Maybe if there’s a chance to do Luther,” said Wilson of his character possibilities in the DCEU. “Of course they cast that guy who’s 27 years old to do Lex Luther. It didn’t make much sense to me. I guess if they wanted to go back to an older Lex Luther, that would be a fun part.
For some Gene Hackman’s more eccentric goofball in the original Superman films will be hard to top, while others like the more demented tech guru seen in Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice. Others really liked Kevin Spacey’s take on the character, which seemed to be somewhere in between.
Perhaps with Flashpoint coming to the DCEU, fans will get another version of Luthor in the future. If so, Wilson might get his wish.

Thor: Ragnarok
Whileย he has a DC villain in mind, Wilson has love for the other side of the superhero aisle as well.
“Absolutely. My phone has not been ringing off the hook with the office from the Marvel universe, but I would absolutely love to do something,” said Wilson about a potential superhero role, specifically “a villain or an interesting character in one of those films.”
In fact, there is one Marvel film that has piqued his interest.
“Oh boy. I’m really excited to see Thor Ragnarok because I love Taika Waititi so much. He’s one of my favorite directors out there” said Wilson about the upcoming sequel. “I don’t think there’s really a place for me in the Thor universe though, but I loved Thor when I was growing up. I read a lot more comic books.”
The Thor cast is pretty stacked already, but maybe the opportunity will present itself in the future?

Along with his wife Holiday, Wilson started a foundation known as the LIDEย Haiti Foundation, which helps children have access to art programs, learning workshops, and scholarships.
“We got a chance about eight years ago to go down to Haiti and visit a bunch of schools. We just fell in love with the country,” Wilson said about their first experience in Haiti to ComicBook.com. “It’s a beautiful place. It’s obviously super poor and ravaged, but it’s really beautiful too. The culture is really vibrant. The people are fantastic. Their hearts are amazing. We knew we just wanted to be involved in the country of Haiti and helping the people there. There’s so much need.”
The Foundation has grown considerably, and now boasts “almost 600 girls, 13 locations and we’ve added literacy and scholarships,” says Wilson. “We’ve got a computer lab, donated computers. It’s been great. It’s been really great.”
