“Hello, Supergirl,” Alex Danver’s kidnapper says to Kara over the phone, in this extended trailer for next Monday’s episode. “Walk into prison and break my father out within the next 36 hours or your sister will die.” In a separate scene, sounding as though Kara has come face to face with the kidnapper, he sinisterly adds, “I spent a whole year planning this. You think I didn’t prepare for you?”

Throughout the trailer, we see that Alex is being held captive in a small, tank-like cell that is slowing filling up with water. By the time the trailer concludes, Alex is fully submerged in the water, looking as though she will drown before Supergirl and her girlfriend, Maggie, can get to her.

“Episode 19 is a very big episode for the both of them just because it comes to dire circumstances, where it’s a situation of a rescue,” Chyler Leigh, the 35-year-old actress who portrays Alex, shared with EW. “It causes Kara and Maggie to have to rely on each other to figure out what happened to Alexโ€ฆ You have to see how they work together, and you have to see how they’re both fighting for the person that they love, that they care about, and how that can take a toll if you have differing opinions, different ways that you kill aliens. It’s this really great example of how deep all of the relationships are, but it really does put Maggie and Alex to the test in a very great way, but it’s rather dire.”

Alex (Chyler Leigh) is kidnapped and the kidnapper threatens to kill her unless Supergirl (Melissa Benoist) releases a notorious criminal from prison. Supergirl and Maggie (Floriana Lima) have always had different approaches to apprehending criminals but this time they must work together to save Alex. Meanwhile, Rhea (guest star Teri Hatcher) has an interesting proposal for Lena (Katie McGrath).

Rob Greenlea directed the episode written by Eric Carrasco & Greg Baldwin.
