Supergirl and Maggie are both strong, opinionated, and stubborn, so they don’t exactly work well together. But when the woman they love is abducted — as part of an elaborate plan hatched a year ago — and her kidnapper offers to spare her life in exchange for breaking his father out of prison, Supergirl and Maggie will have to overcome their differing opinions and methods to catching criminals in order to rescue Alex.

And who is Alex’s abductor? Welp, he has a connection to a flashback scene from the show’s very first episode. “This episode is called ‘Alex,’ and there’s a guy who comes back from Alex and Kara’s past,” Chyler Leigh told TVLine. “In the [Supergirl] pilot, you saw a young Kara miraculously save a girl from car. Well, this one guy saw her do it, and knowing that she had these powers, he figured out that Kara is Supergirl.”
As for the Kara-Maggie dynamic, you can expect plenty of bickering and second-guessing. “Maggie and Kara have to team up to try to figure out what’s happened to me, and that sets up a lot of interesting conversations between the two ladies,” Leigh previews. “It’s almost like a peeing contest, you know what I mean? Like, ‘Who can do this better? Who knows Alex better?’ And it comes to a head at one point.”
