Clerks and Mallrats filmmaker Kevin Smith directed his first episode of Supergirl earlier this season, and he has such a good time he came back to helm another. To celebrate his return, The CW has put out a new featurette previewing tonight’s “Distant Sun” episode and the stars of the show giving Smith high-praise.

The video begins with a fun clip from episode. Mon-El is in the kitchen preparing breakfast in bed for Kara, but before he can bring it to her, the smell of bacon has awaken his girlfriend and she rushes to wear that heavenly smell is emanating from. It then transitions to red carpet interviews with Melissa Benoist and David Harewood.
“He is a joy to work with,” Benoist says. “He’s one of my favorite directors, that has come to the show.” She adds, “He understand the genre, like he’s an encyclopedia for comic book lore, and he knows so much about it and he loves it. He’s a fan, so that’s infectious.”
“Kevin seems to understand that at the end of the day we’re here to have fun,” Haredwood shares. “He’s just brought enormous energy to the set, and we were very grateful for it.”
A large bounty is put out on Supergirl (Melissa Benoist) and aliens from far and near attack National City intent on taking out the woman of steel.Alex (Chyler Leigh) and Maggie (Floriana Lima) run into Maggie’s ex-girlfriend, Emily (guest star Hayley Sales), who is in town for a week.Hank (David Harewood) gets an interesting order from President Marsdin (guest star Lynda Carter).
