Tonight, the world was introduced to a new kind of emo superhero. The Flash returned after an extended hiatus with “The Once And Future Flash,” and the time-traveling episode introduced the beauty of Emo Barry. In the episode, fans watched as Barry Allen traveled to the future to discover the true identity of Savitar. When Barry made it to the year 2024, he encountered Future Barry who looked as if he’d been listening to too much Tears for Fears.

The episode followed Barry and his future self as they pair squabbled over Savitar and ways to save Iris West from death. Fans admit the episode was a touching one, but they have not been able to overlook the distinctly ’emo’ aesthetic Future Barry was rocking.

Over on Twitter, netizens have already brought in all the memes about Future Barry, and ComicBook has rounded up some of the best for you. You can check out the LOL-worthy tweets in the slides below!

The Flash airs on The CW Tuesday nights at 8 p.m. Eastern.

In ‘The Once and Future Flash,’ Barry (Grant Gustin) travels to the future to find out Savitar’s still unknown identity in the hopes of saving Iris (Candice Patton). Upon his arrival in 2024, Barry encounters future versions of his Team Flash friends, who, following the death of Iris, have become very different people, profoundly impacted by their showdown with Savitar. It will be up to Barry to infuse a sense of hope back into the team, as he proves to be hero his future friends have been waiting for. Meanwhile, back in 2017, the hunt for Killer Frost (Danielle Panabaker) continues.

Tom Cavanagh directed the episode written by Carina Adly MacKenzie.
