Interestingly, Bolphunga first appeared in “Mogo Doesn’t Socialize,” a 1985 story from Watchmen co-creators Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons. Moore has previously mocked DC for milking his Green Lantern stories for their big event comics — and Bolphunga will make his way back to comics in the same month Superman squares off with Doctor Manhattan in Doomsday Clock.

Seeley tweeted about the story, promising fans, “We tell a heartbreaking story about this jerk on Green Lanterns #35.”

You can see the solicitation for that issue, a story titled “O Bolphunga, Where Art Thou?,” below.

“Credit to editor [Andrew Marino], who came up with title ‘O Bolphunga Where Art Thou?’ after I pitched “Green Lanterns if it was done by the Coen Bros.’”

The issue will be on the stands on November 15 — a week before Doomsday Clock #1.
