DC Reveals Wonder Woman’s Twin Brother Is A [Spoiler]

Wonder Woman #34 reveals the first meeting between Diana and her twin brother Jason, but it does not go as smoothly as she might have hoped.

Spoilers incoming for Wonder Woman #34, so if you haven’t read it yet you’ve been warned.

Wonder Woman #34 features the very first meeting between Diana and her long-lost twin brother, one she only learned about recently. The meeting starts out swimmingly, as Jason reveals he has watched her on the news for years, even going as far to say “I prayed one day we’d be together.” The two talk and share stories until the sun starts to set, but at that point, Jason’s demeanor completely changes, and he reveals he, in fact, despises Diana and has joined forces with someone else who feels the same way.

That turns out to be Grail, daughter of Darkseid, who emerges from a portal and clocks Diana. Right before that Jason reveals what he really thinks about Diana. “It means you’re nothing but a stranger to me,” Jason says. “I’ve done fine without you up ’til now. We share the same blood, sure, but that’s all.”

Earlier in the day, Jason said he had some of the same powers as Diana, but also mentioned he had a few different abilities as well. Diana witnesses those powers in action during their fight, as Jason turns into a huge tsunami. “You wanted to know my other powers, sister? Our father was God of the sky–the air–air pressure–which can create a Tsunami.”

Diana is in a pretty rough way by the end of this issue, but it isn’t really clear why Jason hates her to begin with. It seems the next issue will deal with Jason’s life pre-Diana, and there should be some additional answers there.

The twin brother element was introduced back in Justice League: Darkseid War, but it hasn’t been picked up again until now. Wonder Woman learned that she was not the only one born on that fateful night, but because Jason was a boy he was taken off the island. Since then Diana learned that he was being sought out by Grail, and set about tracking Jason down.

There will be many who aren’t necessarily surprised that her twin turned out to be a villain, but it all really comes down to if he genuinely has a reason to resent her. If not, this will come off as pretty formulaic. If it does deliver, Jason could be sticking around an enemy for the foreseeable future.
