Back when Call of Duty: WWII was first unveiled, Sledgehammer Games revealed auto health regeneration wouldn’t be a part of the game’s single-player campaign, and recently, we got some indication the same may be true of the game’s multiplayer. According to an eyes-on Call of Duty: WWII preview, the game will feature “no auto-heal, neither in single player, nor in multiplayer.”

That’s a pretty major shakeup! You can tailor the campaign around the lack of auto heal so you don’t really miss it, but it will change the strategy and feel of multiplayer in a big way. Well, according to the Call of Duty fanatics at Charlie Intel, the folks at Gamer Professionals who wrote up the divisive preview may have been mistaken, or less professional than their name implies.

Charlie Intel has been very reliable as of late, providing a lot of early, accurate information about Call of Duty: WWII. So, if they say no health regeneration in Call of Duty: WWII is false, I’m inclined to believe them.

Of course, neither Activision or developer Sledgehammer Games have weighed in on whether auto healing with be a part of Call of Duty: WWII multiplayer. In the most recent issue of Edge, Sledgehammer did indicate multiplayer will be a slower, more strategic experience this time aroundโ€ฆ

“It’s the experience you’re used to, and gritty and visceral but certainly, the boosts and thrusts and abilities that we introduced in Advanced Warfare and you’ve seen in other gamesโ€ฆfuture technology and exoskeletons are just not appropriate for this game. You can imagine trying to find a balance where it feels strategic and appropriate to the time period, while still maintaining the fun of multiplayer. It’s more grounded, and more strategic, and I think you’ll find it’s not as fast.”

Activision has promised a big Call of Duty: WWII multiplayer unveiling at this year’s E3, so we won’t have to wait long for official news on health regeneration. Even if it hasn’t been cut altogether, I have a feeling it may have been tweaked in some way.
