This Secret Of Mana Comparison Video Will Blow Your Retro-ized Mind

In case you missed the news this past week, Secret of Mana is making a comeback. Square Enix confirmed that the 16-bit SNES classic would be returning with remastered visuals, soundtrack, voice acting and more options, available for release early next year.

We had a chance to check it out at PAX West this weekend, and while there are still minor issues with it (like that aforementioned voice acting), it's definitely a blast from the past. But don't just take our word for it – now you can see for yourself.

A YouTube user by the name of "Cycu1" has posted a new video on their account that features a comparison between the classic SNES version of Secret of Mana, and the new version that's coming out. It's just a quick playthrough of the first level, but it shows quite a few subtle differences between the two, including an impressive boss fight with a giant praying mantis, more depth with its visuals, and more. It's like night and day, even though you can't really hear the music. (It's essentially a selection from the classic Secret of Mana that's played on repeat through the course of the video.)

It's a great video, and really gets you amped up for the game that's on the way. And if you feel like pre-ordering it for either PlayStation 4 or PS Vita (yep, it's coming to Vita!) can score some exclusive goodies for the game when it comes out, including a Moogle Suit for randi, Primm and Popoi, a Tiger Two-Piece for Primm, and a Tiger Suit for Randi and Popoi, along with a handful of character avatars for your profile.

If you prefer to take the PC route, however, you'll still get something for your trouble, as you'll score a free custom downloadable wallpaper and bonus costumes for your version as well. And the game will only sell for $39.99, much lower than the SNES version sold for – so you're getting a nice little bargain out of the deal as well.
