Mario Has Nipples In Super Mario Odyssey And The Internet Can’t Take It

Super Mario Odyssey got a huge showcase during today's Nintendo Direct, and it has us that much more excited for the final release when it arrives for Nintendo Switch on October 27th.

A lot of fans are focused on the game, but there are a few out there that can't help but focus on something else – and it's weird.

In one part of the Mario Odyssey footage, Mario appears to be running around on a beach, and in a swimsuit of some kind. That's a new outfit for him, and it actually exposes something that Nintendo fans haven't seen before – his nipples.

Yes, you are reading a story that talks about how Mario now has nipples in Super Mario Odyssey. But this isn't one that focuses on those, but rather the Internet's reaction to said nipples – because they're hilarious.

For instance, GoNintendoTweet sent out this message, noting, "Is this a first for Mario? Mario letting them nipples fly free? What a time to be alive."

They weren't the only one. Prince Primarina also chimed in, showing a closer look at Mario in the game and saying, "Mario has nipples and IDK what to do" in all caps.

Other responses include "Mario has nipples now 2017 is wild", Alan Johnson explained, "Nintendo last week: Confirm Mario is no longer a plumber. Nintendo this week: Confirm Mario has nipples.", and Gabriel Norton noted, "2017: The year Humanity discovered canonical Mario nipples."

Listen. Character evolution is nothing new in this business. Samus Aran turned from an 8-bit queen on the market into a strikingly beautiful female warrior. Link grew up very quickly in The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild in his best form to date. And, yes, Mario can break out of his outfit and have a little fun on the beach. Because he deserves it for all the times he saved Peach. So, of course he has nipples.
