Comparisons

Obviously it didn’t take long for comparisons to be made to the upcoming Xbox Series X, though some are just going to end up getting both anyway.

“PS5 vs Xbox SX specs. As I figured Xbox has the more powerful and tech advantages. Now let’s see the price. Either way, I’m coppin both consoles but will be continuing to play everything on Xbox and have PS5 for the exclusives.”

Weaker

Some are pointing out that the specs for the PS5 are weaker than the Xbox Series X, but again, many will end up buying both.

“This boring #PS5Reveal was most likely meant for GDC. That being said, the spec reveal for Xbox Series X still was way better. Also the PS5 is legit way weaker than Series X. Still getting both tho.”

What’s Missing

One fan pointed out that the presentation revealing the specs seemed to focus more on what was missing from the system than what is actually in the specs.

“Sony literally made a presentation saying what ps5 doesn’t have more than what it hasย
this is trash tbh”

Putting Me To Sleep

Others were not impressed with the specs at all, and don’t seem interested in the games either.

“So far I’m liking the #XboxSeriesX more man. Looking like I’m getting a Xbox DAY 1. PS5 is putting me to sleep with those specs. And still no games revealed what so ever other then that “Godfall” game that was announced back at the Game Awards back in December. Dang dawg. lol”

Works For Me

One thing that did seem to landย was the PS5’s approach to backwards compatibility, at least for the top 100 played games on the PlayStation 4.

“If all the PS4 Souls games are compatible with PS5 at launch that works for me.”

Faster

While some weren’t impressed by the new console’s straight-up power, other fans shined a light on the system’s speed.

“Ps5 is wayyyy faster”

Fixing An Issue

Other fans were happy to hear that Sony is aiming to fix one of the PS4’s key issues, which involves how it handles power consumption, making your PS4 fans kick into gear constantly. It seems that will be a thing of the past in the PS5.

“I’m glad they handling this power consumption issue on ps5 . Sound like my PS4 bout to take off to space sometimes Face with tears of joyFace with tears of joyFace with tears of joy”

A Balance

While Xbox has more raw power in its console, PS5 is aiming to go with a more balanced and speedy console, something fans are digging.

“As per Cerny, 36CU is much more efficient than the 52 Xbox has. So, it’s got a lower flop count but the PS5 is most likely equivalent or faster due to the higher frequency and lower CU count.”

Storage

Others are excited about Sony’s options for extensions of storage.

“The new PS5 has an expandable PCIe 4.0 M.2 slot for speed-compatible storage extension. This is awesome.”
