Sony Reveals New Translucent Line of DualShock 4 Controllers, Pre-Orders Live

Sony just unveiled the prettiest PlayStation controllers we've ever seen in our lives. This writer is a total sucker for colorful translucent electronics, and so these translucent DualShock 4 controllers are an absolute must-buy. Take a look!

So the new controller will come in three flavors. There's the original Crystal, a Crystal Blue variation, and a Crystal Red variation. They kind of sound like Pokemon games, don't they? All three of them are gorgeous, but you'll only be able to obtain them from select retailers. If there's a certain color that you know you want, you'll need to pay attention, because you won't be able to walk into just any store and pick all three of these up. From the official PlayStation Blog:

"The three colors will be available later this month as retailer exclusives across the U.S. and Canada. You can pick up Crystal at GameStop (EB games in Canada), Blue Crystal at Walmart and Red Crystal at Best Buy."

Pre-orders for the controllers are now live. If you'd like to pre-order the Crystal controller from GameStop, you can follow this link. If you're interested in the Crystal Red controller from Best Buy, you can click here. If you're interested in the Crystal Blue version you'll have to check back. The pre-order link at Walmart isn't live quite yet, and returns an error.

We have a few more detailed, larger shots of each of the controllers in the gallery located at the top and bottom of this article, and it's worth checking out. There's something spellbinding about translucent electronics; being able to peer inside and see the inner-workings of the controller as you play a game is mesmerizing. These controllers capture that same spirit and magic that we felt when Nintendo released those translucent purple Game Boy Colors back in the day -- do you remember those?!

Soon enough, these will go on sale, so stay tuned!
