Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment has released a new gameplay trailer for Cars 3: Driven to Win, and you know what? We think this looks like a lot of fun. It’s easy to write off “another racing game,” especially when it’s centered around a popular license. We’d assume that Disney and Warner Bros. have teamed up to cash an easy check, but everything I’m seeing in this trailer looks like a lot of fun. Check it out for yourself:

There are three things that I find encouraging in this trailer. The most important thing is the fact that racing looks fun. There is a wide variety of vehicles to choose from, they all have their unique personalities, they pull off all kinds of crazy stunts in the air, and drifting looks tight. Having fun while actually driving is what makes a racing game worth picking up, and things are looking promising on that front.
The weapons also look like a lot of fun. If you’re going to make a racing game based on Cars, you might as well go all-out and make it a total arcade racer. Slamming into opponents, blasting through the front runners and boosting into first place… Those are the types of things we like to see for a casual multiplayer racing game, and Driven to Win looks like it could be a blast with some friends.
The third thing I noticed was the sheer variety of game modes to choose from. Warner Bros. is boasting six game modes, and this bodes well for replay value. The game modes include:
Race: Players can hop onto the tracks against Lightning McQueen and the gang to rev up for the ultimate challenge.
Stunt Showcase: Players can race off of ramps to catch air and perform as many tricks as possible before time runs, earning points for successful tricks and safe landings.
Best Lap Challenge:Players can race against their own best time, as they attempt to set a new track record.
Playground: An area where players can go racing, perform stunts and engage in challenges, or simply drive around for fun at their own pace. There are no rules! Practice stunts, engage in challenges or simply cruise around for endless fun.
Takedown: Collect and use a variety of power-ups to eliminate as many crash karts as possible, and when time runs out, the player with the most points wins.
Battle Race: Players are able to collect and use power-ups, putting their cars to the test in races against family and friends to become the Ultimate Champion.
We’re in. Cars 3: Driven to Win waves the green flag on June 13 on pretty much every console: PS4, PS3, Xbox 360, Xbox One, Wii U, and Nintendo Switch.
