Pick of the Week

Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy (PS4, June 30)

Get ready for some crazy PSOne-era nostalgia, as Crash Bandicoot is spinning back to PS4. Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogyย includes the original three Naughty Dog-developed titles, Crash Bandicoot, Crash Bandicoot 2: Cortex Strikes Back, and Crash Bandicoot: Warped, all lovingly beautified for their 4K closeup.

Developer Vicarious Visions has dubbed Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy a “triple-A remaster” rather than a full remake, as it reuses the basic level layouts from the original games, but make no mistake, a lot of work has gone into this collection. The compilation also includes new time trials, an extra playable character, and a modernized save system. Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy should be everything you remember the series being, and more.

This Week at Retail

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered (PS4, June 27)

After much speculation and grumbling from fans, Activision finally caved and announced that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remasteredย will be decoupled from CoD: Infinite Warfare and released as a standalone game. Play the game that made Call of Duty a phenomenon in up to 4K on PS4 Pro! PC and Xbox standalone versions of Modern Warfare Remastered are expected to be released next month.

This Week in DLC

Final Fantasy XV: Episode Prompto (Xbox One & PS4, June 27)

The second big Final Fantasy XV expansion arrives this week. Episode Prompto puts you in command of your gun-slinging teammate, who’s on a mission to escape an arctic Imperial facility and find out more about his mysterious past. In a break from the main game, Episode Prompto focuses heavily on stealth and third-person shooting โ€“ basically, it’s Final Fantasy meets Metal Gear Solid, which sounds like an intriguing combo.

This Week in DLC

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild – The Master Trials (Wii U & NS, June 30)

The first major expansion for The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wildย is almost here! As the name implies, The Master Trials is for the hardcore Zelda player, featuring a new hard mode, and “Trial of the Sword,” an new extra-punishing 45-level Shrine that starts you off in just your underwear. It’s time to stop messing around in Breath of the Wild‘s open world and prove your worth!

This Week at Retail

Valkyria Revolution (Xbox One, PS4 & PS Vita, June 27)

Prepare to do battle in Valkyria Revolution, a new entry in Sega’s cult-favorite RPG series. This time around, the turn-based strategic battles of past games have been replaced with real-time combat, and the world has been rebooted, doing away with earlier entries’ thinly-veiled World War II theme with a slightly more fantastical steampunk aesthetic. That said, don’t worry — this still mostly feels like a Valkyria game.

A big week for DLC, although Crash Bandicoot and Valkyria Revolution are also worth your time if you’re looking for something new!
