Destiny is mostly about teamwork, but the original game did offer up a good variety of PvP modes via the Crucible, including Capture mode, which will be making its return in Destiny 2, albeit with some changes.

Crucible lead designer Lars Bakken provided a walkthrough of the new take on Control in a recent IGN First video. The main difference is that Control, like all Destiny 2 Crucible game modes, will now be strictly 4v4, but you can expect a number of other changes as well. For instance, you can no longer capture flags faster by piling multiple people on them, and your scoring will be affected the number of flags you hold โ capture all three, and you’ll enter a “power play” in which every kill is a lot more valuable. Basically, Bungie wants players to stop bunching up around flags and get a little more adventurousโฆ
“We wanted to make the game feel more tactical and understandable. That’s the reasoning behind not wanting multiple players to be on the zone at the same time. Players will still do these things, of course, because old habits die hard. Once you get a feel for it, the game starts to flow in a really fun and interesting way.”
IGN also released a video highlighting the new Control map, Endless Vale. The map takes place on Nessus, a new location for Destiny 2, which features a mix of natural forest-like environments and alien architecture, as the area has been taken over and terraformed by the Vex. With lots of corners and cover points, it looks like Endless Vale should provide plenty of opportunities for strategy.
The Destiny 2 open beta kicks off on July 21, and will let players test out Control mode and the Endless Vale map, along with the first mission of the single-player campaign, and a co-op Strike.
Destiny 2 hits Xbox One and PS4 on September 6, and the PC on October 24.
