It’s finally here! Well, almost. Destiny 2 arrives on PC October 24th and the team over at Bungie have been very clear about the steps they’ve taken to ensure a successful launch. This is the very first time a Destiny title has appeared on the PC platform, so it’s exciting news all around! That being said, many have been wondering about their “one build” goal and if that means that mechanic quality could suffer due to the blanketed support.

Thankfully, both Vicarious Visions and Bungie seem dedicated to making it the best possible experience, and have mentioned that they are open to “diverging” should the need arise.

Where the two paths diverge:

In a recent interview with PC Gamer, engineering lead from Vicarious Visions, Thomas Gawrys, had this to say:ย

“Our goal is to keep everything the same across all our platforms. We did do some work to allow us to tune things for PC, just because we wanted to be ready if we needed to do something drastic.ย That whole ‘one design build’ that I mentioned this morning is really the goal,” added Bungie PC project lead David Shaw. “That work we did, we don’t want to get stuck in the lurch like ‘oh god I wish we could tune this one rocket launcher separately’, we built stuff that will allow us to diverge if we need to, our intent is to stay as similar as possible, but we’ll see what happens.”

Bungieย gave a little insight earlier this week about their plans and current investigations into potential issues with the newest launch. Data taken from estimations and beta reports all were included in their “known issues” update, which can be seen here.ย

With the PC launch all ready to go, the preparations for everything new coming with season 2 have begun. New maps, events, gear, and more are all on the way. We’ve previously reported everything new we’ve got so far in our photo gallery here, and now Guardians can get ready for the winter with a new little mini-hockey game as well!ย

Destiny 2ย is available now for Xbox One and PlayStation 4, with a PC launch tomorrow on October 24th!
