In dark corners of the internet where you can hear the Star Wars cantina theme playing gently in the background, fans still meet to discuss the potential implications of an group of Star Wars Battlefront II images that may have spoiled a big plot point of the upcoming film, The Last Jedi. For those of you who didn’t see the pictures in question, here are two images of Rey in a customization screen, featuring two different lightsabers.

You’ll forgive the quick crop, but you see what we’re talking about, right? Here we see Rey in two different outfits; with two different lightsabers. In the first image we see Rey in her scavenger gear from The Force Awakens, and in the second image she’s dressed in Jedi regalia. The two lightsabers have distinctly different looks as well, which seemed to suggest that, if Battlefront II was to tie-in with the goings on in The Last Jedi, we could be getting an early sneak peak and Rey’s new lightsaber from the film, either one that she built herself, or another one that she inherits from Luke Skywalker during training.

It’s not meant to be, however. As the image made the rounds on Reddit, a hero designer on DICE’s team showed up to the thread to clear things up. When asked specifically about the two different lightsaber images in the customization screens he said, “Just a bug, don’t worry.” Just a bug, huh? We’re not sure if we believe him, but if you’ve been wanting some kind of official clarification on the matter, it doesn’t get more official than that.

We know that Battlefront II will tell a story that bridges the gap between the years of Return of the Jedi and The Force Awakens, but seeing Rey in her Jedi garb seems to indicate that we’ll be adventuring into the timelines of The Force Awakens and possibly The Last Jedi as well. This is why eagle-eyed fans are watching for any and all spoilers. Whether or not this pair of lightsabers will come back to mean something more than DICE is letting on, well, we’ll have to wait until November 17 to find out.
