Every X-Men Character Confirmed for Marvel’s Wolverine Game

Insomniac’s Marvel’s Wolverine has been one of the most anticipated games for the PlayStation 5. After Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, the studio turned its attention to a different Marvel hero, which turned out to be Logan. Years passed and there was little information from Insomniac, though a leak did show an early look at gameplay and reveal some possible information. During the September PlayStation State of Play, fans got their first in-depth look at Wolverine, including not only who will be playing the iconic character but also its violent, gory combat. Insomniac also revealed a handful of characters fans will see in Wolverine and teased a few others.

There are countless characters in the Marvel universe, but the most expected ones to appear in Wolverine will be his fellow X-Men and mutants. This only slightly narrows down the potential roster fans could see, but the trailer already revealed a few characters that will appear in-game. The announced showcase in the Spring of 2026 will likely reveal more, but for now, this is every X-Men character confirmed for Wolverine.

Of course Wolverine will appear: he is the main character after all. Insomniac is fully leaning into his brutality and this is seen in the gameplay trailer. Logan rips through enemies with his adamantium claws, but the game isn’t only about combat. It will explore Logan’s identity and his conflicting emotions. Rage, pain, loss, and so much more can be seen through Liam McIntyre’s performance. While the overall narrative remains a mystery, Insomniac did reveal players will be on the hunt to uncover dark secrets of Logan’s past.

Omega Red

One of the most intriguing reveals was the villainous mutant Omega Red, and it makes sense. He is a recurring and longtime antagonist of Wolverine’s with the power to drain life from his foes and even kill them with his death spores. He is a powerhouse of a villain that will be an excellent foil for Wolverine and complements his feral energy. Considering the brutal nature of Omega Red, he is a perfect choice for Marvel’s Wolverine as Insomniac looks to embrace Logan’s dark and bloody history.

Mystique

Where Omega Red is certainly a villain players will face in Wolverine, Mystique has a more mysterious role. This shapeshifting mutant has shifting loyalties, finding herself working beside Logan and on the pointy end of his claws throughout their history. Insomniac has teased that some mutants will help Logan, one of which seems to be Mystique. This doesn’t mean she won’t inevitably betray him, similar to Black Cat in Insomniac’s Spider-Man series. Her powers to change appearance and martial skills make her a formidable foe or ally and her role in the narrative will likely be one of the most exciting.

Sentinels

Insomniac only teased this deadly mutant threat, and it appears to be just a prototype, but even this poses a massive challenge to Logan. Sentinels were designed to hunt and kill mutants and their inclusion in Wolverine raises the stakes considerably. Wolverine is typically seen as a loner outside his time with the X-Men, but the Sentinels mean the fight is so much bigger than him. It remains to be seen how these foes appear in the game, but they certainly promise larger than life cinematic battles compared to the closer and more intense matches with mutants like Omega Red.

Jean Grey

While not officially confirmed, Jean Grey was revealed to be in Wolverine according to the past leaks. Not only this, but she will be a playable character, perhaps like MJ was in Marvel’s Spider-Man. Considering her history with Logan, this isn’t a surprise, and her abilities could lead to some interesting missions. Still, one should take these leaks with skepticism until she is revealed. Perhaps in the Spring showcase Insomniac will reveal this iconic mutant.

There are so many other possible X-Men characters that could appear. Sabretooth is a natural choice considering he is an iconic enemy of Wolverine. Magneto fits the same bill, and Mystique’s presence does give more credence to the idea that the Master of Metal will appear, even if only in passing. Likewise, how can you tell an X-Men story without Charles Xavier. It would be odd not to see Professor X, at least in a flashback or telepathically communicating with Logan at some point.

While these are certainly speculations, the Reaver enemy faction gives a bigger hint to what other characters may appear. These foes originate to the Hellfire Club, a group of powerful mutants that have included the likes of Sebastian Shaw and Emma Frost over the years. One of these, or another member, could appear as the primary antagonist in Wolverine. The group has frequently changed members over the years, but if these are the same Reavers, fans can likely expect to run into one mutant from the group.
