Although it still has a ways to go to catch up with PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds large audience, Epic Games’ Fortnite is doing quite well – so much, in fact, servers are starting to suffer as a result.

You can still play the game, but there were some noticeable issues with servers earlier in the week. But, at least Epic Games had a good reason why, though.

The publisher of the hit game recently took to Twitter to address the issue, apologizing for the inconvenience and explaining that the game had reached over 800,000 concurrent players at one point – a lot sooner than anticipated. You can see the full tweet below.

There’s no doubt that the problem should be fixed around this weekend, as Epic Games wants to assure its audience sticks around for the long haul.

In addition to that, however, Epic also acknowledged a new update which will be coming to the game, one that will perk things up performance-wise, as well as add a few changes to the Battle Royale and Save the World modes.

The game’s frame rate should see an increase across both PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 4 Pro, and Slurp Juice will be a lot more noticeable on the floor. There will also be better light shadow rendering across all versions, as well as an increase in character animations.

Once the update is applied, players will also be able to take a look at a list to see how other team members are doing. You can also use this list to toggle voice chat however you see fit, should you want someone to shut up, or you want to speak to a certain player, in case they’re walking into a trap or something.

Quest drop rates will also be improved, in case you’ve been needing more of those.

The full list of technical updates coming with the new patch can be found here, in case you want to read up and see what’s heading your way for the better.

Fortnite is available now for Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC.
