Friday the 13th: The Game received a much-anticipated patch for all systems recently, but after the update caused quite a few problems while fixing other, the game's creators have responded to players' feedback.

Joshua Gertz, the executive producer at IllFonic, posted an announcement in the Friday the 13th: The Game forums to let players know that they've heard the complaints loud and clear and are hard at work resolving certain issues. Following up from Gun Media's Ben Strauss who said that they were aware of issues with the patch, Gertz elaborated on which areas they're looking at.

One of the most obvious problems with the patch was the fact that the textures of certain objects would have their name written on the asset the texture was applied to. Inside wooden cabins, the word "Wood" could be seen across the walls, and the word "Rock" would appear on the stony obstacles outdoors.

"We found the issues but we would have had to pull the game from cert and resubmit which would have delayed getting the patch out even longer than you all had already waited," Gertz wrote in the announcement. "We decided since the items above were annoying but not game breaking we didn't want to go through the cycle again. We didn't follow the process and it was a dumb mistake that is entirely our fault."

He added that they're also changing their internal process to avoid similar issues in the future and that the texture problems have already been fixed internally.

Another area of concern is the new mechanic involving breaking through windows, a feature that allowed Jason to quickly create hazards and limit escape options for the Counselors. While a quick smash would previously do the trick, Jason's now stuck in an animation required to break the window, much like he would be if trying to break down a door. The change hasn't been received well since it slows down Jason's hunt and makes the window-smashing option less appealing, but to make matters worse, it wasn't documented in the patch notes.

"It not being noted in the patch notes is likely due to it being checked into an isolated branch prior to the previous patch," Gertz explained. "This made it so when I ran the query for all the changes from the previous patch to the new one it didn't show up."

Performance problems, unexpected ways to kill Jason, and matchmaking issues were also among the topics that were addressed in the full response from Gertz. The IllFonic producer closed his post by commending the testing team for their work and thanking players for their keen observations and bug reports.
