While a lot of us took it easy over the Labor Day weekend, the team over at Games Done Quick decided to put their skills to good use to raise money for charity.

Over the course of the weekend, the speedrunning group, which usually specializes in two events that take place over the course of the year, managed to get through a lot of games, and ended up raising over $225,000 for charity, thanks to 4,000 donators for the Houston Food Bank.
The group’s tweet noted, “Amazing Work! We hit 225K just as stream has come to an end! #GOAL! #HRDQ2017” And it also features a screenshot of the final tally, coming in at $225,373. (It actually ended a bit above that, with $226,932.53.) Not bad at all, guys!
“The Houston Food Bank will provide food and supplies in the short term and for many months to come to residents in southeast Texas who will struggle to rebuild their lives,” the Games Done Quick page reads. “The Food Bank will work closely with their network of partner agencies to ensure food is getting to those who need it most. They also find ways to connect offers of help with those who are providing help.”
The show had a number of highlights over the weekend, including 100 percent runs of games like Mega Man X, as well as speed runs with games like Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy, Doom, Portal, Mario Kart 64 and a handful of others. No doubt viewers were entertained, just as they usually are with Games Done Quick’s presentations at the beginning of the year and around the beginning of summer.
If you somehow missed out on the marathon, not to worry. You can actually donate to Games Done Quick by buying some merchandise, or providing a donation to the Houston Food Bank directly.
