After being in the works for the past six years and brought to life with the help of a Kickstarter fund, the open-world RPG Kingdom Come: Deliverance has released a new trailer for the game that included a global announcement date that’s coming on June 9.

The sandbox-style game from publisher/developer Warhorse Studios and publisher Deep Silver puts players in control of the lowly son of a blacksmith living in the historic Kingdom of Bohemia, an area that’s been cast into turmoil after an abrupt change in leadership that put the progress of the well-off land into peril. The game is said to be based on the true story of the region and will feature historic battles that actually occurred in Middle Europe, but how much it will divert from the timeline remains to be seen. A classic “start at the bottom” story arc guides the protagonist to reclaim his lost land through the usual RPG suspects that include choices between combat and charisma, among other traits.

One element included in the game will seem familiar, a good-and-bad choices mechanic that will directly influence which of the NPCs want to be around you and which one’s would rather get rid of you. It sounds a lot like the karma system in place in some of the Fallout games, something that RPG fans will likely be happy to see return. Fallout 4 was criticized for not having a karma system in place. Players were quick to look for mods to enable some sort of karma system, because sometimes, you just feel like being the bad guy.

Fighting styles and armor varieties seem to guide the combat system that incorporates historic European sword-fighting styles. It’s actually kind of refreshing to see an RPG that doesn’t plan on incorporating magical elements into the mix, so hopefully, the combat will be precise and polished upon the game’s release.

But then, there’s the question of when the release will happen. The game’s already been in the works for some time now, and with the upcoming just listed as the day for an announcement, there’s no telling how much longer the game will take to be released. Perhaps the announcement will feature a release date, or maybe there will be more about the game seen during E3.

Kingdom Come: Deliverance is planned to launch on Playstation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
