The long-awaited update for League of Legends’ Evelynn is finally here will all of her abilities now fully detailed in a new reveal.

Her signature stealthy gameplay is back in the update, but it also comes with some changes that allow for a bit more counterplay instead of simply having to constantly buy wards. Hate Spikes also make a return, but they’ve been tweaked a bit as well while still staying as what looks to be her core damage-dealing move.
The assassin also has new CC through a charm effect as well as a devastating, AOE ultimate that also acts as an execution. Each of the abilities all received brief gameplay previews as well to see her powerful new kit in action, all of them shown here with the abilities’ descriptions.
Passive: Demon Shade
Evelynn retains here gameplay style of sticking to the shadows after her update, but she’ll also be able to regain quite a bit of health while moving about the jungle between skirmishes.
In addition to her own benefits from the ability, Demon Shade now grants her camouflage at level 6 as opposed to straight from the beginning.
“After avoiding combat for a few seconds, Evelynn is enveloped by Demon Shade. If Evelynn’s health is low, she’ll recover it quickly while this ability is active. Starting at level 6, Demon Shade also grants camouflage—this makes Evelynn hidden from view to all except nearby enemy champions, control wards, and turrets.”
Q: Hate Spike
The jungler’s go-to farming ability returns with a new twist that’ll still allow for consistent damage and pressure, but Evelynn players will have to land a skillshot first before they start slamming that Q key.
“Hate Spike –Evelynn lashes out in a target direction, dealing damage to the first unit hit. If the lash strikes a target, Evelynn’s next three spells or attacks on that target will deal additional damage. If the struck target is a monster, a significant chunk of Hate Spike’s cooldown will be refunded. After the initial cast, Evelynn can recast Hate Spike up to three times to fire a line of spikes through the nearest enemy. The spikes deal damage to all enemies hit. Hate Spike prioritizes the enemy Evelynn is attacking.”
W: Lust Dust
Evelynn’s new form of CC comes as a charm that’s part of her Lust Dust ability, a move that can both slow and incapacitate enemies after a brief period.
“Evelynn briefly curses a target champion or monster, briefly revealing her location to her target. Hitting the cursed target with basic attacks or Eve’s other spells will expunge the curse, refunding Lust Dust’s mana cost and significantly slowing the target.”
“If the curse lasts for at least a couple of seconds, expunging it will charm the target. If the target is an enemy champion, their magic resistance will be reduced for a few seconds. If the target is a monster, the length of the charm will be increased and the spell will deal bonus damage.”
“Casting Lust Dust does not break Demon Shade’s camouflage.”
E: Whiplash and Empowered Whiplash
A quick gap-closer combined with an AOE attack if an Evelynn player can pull it off correctly, the jungler’s new Whiplash and Empowered Whiplash abilities grand her a bit of movement speed for the incoming attack along with that sweet, sweet percent damage to maximum health.
“Whiplash -Evelynn impales an enemy with her lashers, applying on-hit effects and dealing damage as a percentage of the target’s maximum health. Evelynn is then granted a short burst of movement speed.”
“Entering Demon Shade upgrades Evelynn’s next Whiplash into Empowered Whiplash.”
“Empowered Whiplash -Evelynn pulls herself to her target before impaling them, then deals Whiplash’s effects to her target and all nearby enemies.”
Ultimate: Widowmaker
Rounding out Evelynn’s new kit is her updated ultimate, Widowmaker.
With this new powerful ability, Evelynn leaps into the air and becomes untargetable, much like Xayah can with her ultimate ability. While in the air, Evelynn lashes out to nearby enemies for some AOE damage. After that, she can quickly warp backwards to safety.
It was shown during the recent gameplay teaser that Evelynn’s ultimate will also allow her to move backwards over walls, so considering how dense the jungle paths are, she’ll be quite a threat after level six when it comes to counterjungling.
“Evelynn unleashes her demonic energy, becoming untargetable and decimating enemies in front of her. She then warps backwards. This ability deals bonus damage to low-health enemies.”
