Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor had a lot going for it, including great combat and the engrossing Nemesis system, but, admittedly, its open world got a little samey after a while. Lots of grey, lots of orcs, not much else. Thankfully, follow up Middle-earth: Shadow of War will extend far beyond Mordor, presenting players with a far larger and more varied open world, which you can check out in an all-new trailer.

Here’s how publisher Warner Bros. Interactive describes the trailer:

“The latest Middle-earth: Shadow of War trailer introduces viewers to the vast environments within the game, stretching beyond Mordor, and giving fans the first glimpse of various new environments to explore, including the Island of Nurn, Cirith Ungol, Gorgoroth and more.Through the innovative Nemesis System, every player experiences a unique world to explore and share and every area of the world is larger, more varied and more dynamic than ever before.”

No doubt about it, Middle-earth: Shadow of War is gorgeous. The first half of the trailer treats us to glimpses of green, tropical coastal areas, frosty mountains, deep dark forests, and much more. The latter half of the trailer is mostly devoted to Talion slicing and dicing orcs, but hey, that’s cool too.
