The Nintendo Switch 2 launched to rave reviews and great sales, but releasing a console is never the end for manufacturers, especially not in the modern day of patch notes and performance updates. With that in mind, Nintendo has already released several new updates for the Switch 2, fixing various issues that have been plaguing early adopters. The most recent patch went live at the tail-end of September, and curiously, the big change listed in the patch notes was “stability.” Recently, we learned that part of that update was improving backwards compatibility on the Switch 2, bringing five more games to the platform.

The news was spotted by the team at NintendoEverything, who noted that the new firmware update made five Switch 1 games fully compatible on Switch 2. That’s an important step for Nintendo, any time it happens, but this batch is a big one because it includes a massively popular, long-running MMO. As of this update, Warframe is now fully compatible with Switch 2, meaning its massive audience can now jump over and dive into their favorite game on the go with Nintendo’s higher-powered console. Here’s a full look at all of the newly compatible games:
- Deemo Reborn
- Library of Ruina
- Powerful Pro Baseball 2024-2025
- Ultra Age
- Warframe

It’s great to see Nintendo continue to improve the Switch 2’s backwards compatibility. The console had a solid launch, but games like Warframe can be a huge boon to players starving for content. Hopefully, we’ll see even more batches of fixes over the next few months.
The good news is that we know Nintendo is working on it, as they’ve also announced a new status report for backward-compatible games that are currently running into support issues. The team is seemingly working on these issues and will hopefully have them resolved relatively soon. A game being on the list below doesn’t necessarily mean you can’t play it on Switch 2, so we’ll note the potential problems you might run into. Here are the games Nintendo has provided a status report for:
- Jelly Troops – This game is fully unsupported due to problems with the game’s progression.
- Kingdoms of Amalur: Re-Reckoning – The action RPG is still dealing with a few graphical issues, but progression has been fixed, making it playable. Just don’t expect it to be completely smooth.
- Mugen Souls – Some items may not correctly appear.
- Subway Simulator 2025: City Train – In certain parts of the game, animations don’t play.
- Transistor – If you insert or remove the Switch 2 from its dock during gameplay, the game may stop functioning.
Those games should get fixes relatively soon, though Nintendo hasn’t provided a firm timetable. That said, Kingdoms of Amalur: Re-Reckoning has already gotten a major fix, so it’s easy to see that Nintendo is moving quickly through its log of backwards-compatible games. Hopefully, we’ll soon see heavy hitters like Xenoblade Chronicles X: Definitive Edition join Warframe on the list of fully compatible games, giving Switch 2 owners even more to play while they wait for Metroid Prime 4: Beyond to launch on December 4th, 2025.
